Rationale
The course demystifies both the process of accounting and the jargon it uses to enable rural bank participants understand and appreciate their inherent usefulness of the wealth of information their accounting system provides via the financial statements and ratios. Learning Objectives: At the end of the two (2) - day seminar, the rural bank participants will be able to: 1. Define and describe the basic accounting terms used in business transactions; 2. Recognize the accounting cycle and how financial transactions are summarized into meaningful financial statements; 3. Analyze financial transactions and determine the appropriate accounting entries; 4. Translate financial statements and ratios to valuable information as one of the basis of coming with a sound business decision; and, 5. Identify the limitations of accounting in recording and interpreting basic financial data.
